Common metaphors for depression are heaviness, baggage, upward struggle – a darkness from which you see little escape.  Anxiety, panic, phobias, and stress disorders are the most common psychological effects.

While there is no existing theory that adequately explains the complex phenomenon of depression, or the higher tendency in females, women’s orientation to relationships, which is central to their identity and emotional well-being, cannot be ignored.

Our relationship with our adult self can be a time for transformation, and because of our innate search for wholeness, we may experience life-changing events that force us to re-evaluate our lives, our values, our beliefs, and our relationships, and that throw us into turmoil.

Problems occur when we cling to goals and values, relationships and behaviours, that may not be relevant any longer.  Often, for women, there comes a time in life when responsibilities may fall away, and time is freed up for inner exploration.  But, conversely, we may be forced into new responsibilities, the need to find new resources within ourselves, and to grow emotionally and psychologically.

The goal is to find ways to deal with life-changing events with the emphasis on growth and expansion – from one lifecycle to the next, onwards and upwards; a natural progression from caterpillar (curled up, defensive and withdrawn) to butterfly (unrestrained and expansive); an empowerment, a release of unwanted habits, beliefs and behaviours; a development of innate skills and an expression of the individual aspect of success.

The key word is “Transition”:

Transition through unnecessary fears, phobias, outdated patterns of behaviour and unwanted habits.

Transition through divorce, separation, bereavement;

Transition through redundancy, disillusionment, frustrated ambition;

Transition through changes in circumstances, changes in those around you, new responsibilities.

Transition to new goals and achievements; to the need for self-expression and independence; to create a new reality, reach new heights.

Hypnotherapy is a safe and effective way to help you move on - engaging the subconscious mind in the process of change and bringing it into harmony with your conscious mind and your conscious desire to change something in your life.
